Use of Water Valves
Each customer connection includes a meter stop valve on the District’s side of the water meter. Customers should (but may not) have a whole house shut off valve located close to the water meter on their side of the meter.
Customers who wish to shut off water to their property for repairs, alterations or extended absences may turn their water off themselves by operating the valve on their side of the meter or may call any district contact person and ask to be shut off. No customers may operate any valve on the District side of their meter. There are practical and liability reasons for this.
Also take note that the Commissioners have recently adopted a policy regarding billing adjustments for leaks. If you are planning an extended absence you MUST have your water shut off by District personnel in order to qualify for any adjustments if a large leak takes place in your absence.
